Now it's your turn to tell me something interesting.

banjo- 02-13-2004
What's the last book you've read?

Tenar- 02-13-2004
Mostly Harmless.

banjo- 02-13-2004
<3.

Do you only read comedy or also other genres?

Tenar- 02-13-2004
Science Fiction, comedy, horror, books about animals.... I read pretty much everything.

I used to read so much when I was a kid, but now I barely have time.

banjo- 02-13-2004
I know the feeling, I only manage to get some reading time in school nowadays. Science Fiction? Do you know Asimov?

Tenar- 02-13-2004
Well, not personally.

I have read some of his books, but that was a long time ago.

Do you like Pratchett?

banjo- 02-13-2004
I love Asimov's 'I, robot'. Logic = <3.

I think I have an e-book of one of the Discworld novels lying around, but never read it. Is he as good as everyone says?

Tenar- 02-13-2004
I find him funnier than Adams. I really really love his books. You should definately read something by him. What book do you have?

'I, Robot'? Sounds familiar. What is it about?

banjo- 02-13-2004
The file says 'Discworld 24 - 5th elephant'.

'I, robot' is a collection of short stories that deal with the three laws of robotics and their application in different stages of robot development. I can send you the e-book [as .pdf] if you like, but be warned that I'll pester you daily until you've read it.

Tenar- 02-13-2004
I've read 5th Elephant. But I honestly don't remember what's it about.

I also think I've read the 'I, Robot', but you can send me the book anyway. Though I don't know if I can read it right now...

Who else do you like?

I have to go now. Good night. smile.gif

banjo- 02-13-2004
Eh, what's your mail adress? The file is 392 KB in size.

Other authors I like: Jeffrey Eugenides. Fyodor Dostoyevski. Maxim Gorky. Stephen King [was a big fan when I was younger, now it's nice to read his stuff inbetween 'serious' books]. Howard Philips Lovecraft. Edgar Allan Poe. Emile Zola. George Orwell. Ray Bradbury. Franz Kafka.

Can't think of more right now. Good night.

No räägi nüüd kõik ilusti ära...

Prove that for any integer a and b gcd(4a + 7b, 3a + 5b) = gcd(a, B).

Meh, never did something like this before. My idea:

4a + 7b = 3a + 5b
a = -2b

Conclusion: They definitely always have common divisors [other than 1]. Now I just need to prove that those definitely are the grea-*test*-('") common divisors. Am I on the right track?

banjo- 02-13-2004
4a + 7b = -b
3a + 5b = -b

Therefore, |-b| [-b is positive anyway, since a is positive (Integer) and a=-2b] is the grea-*test*-('") common divisior, right? I know I'm lacking a bit in proof, but you get the idea.
